Satay is very popular for indonesian. although the cooking time is rather long, but the buyer remains patiently in waiting. usually the chicken satay is the most cheap compared to sheep satay or beef satay. usually satay is served with lontong, pickles, soy sauce and peanut sauce.

Banana flowers could be a delicious soup

Banana trees are tropical trees which is easy to plant. besides the fruit, we can cook the flowers. before banana fruiting, the flowers will appear and we can be pick it. after picking the flower, it should be cooked immediately. because it can't be stored for long time. to cook it we should cut it into small pieces and mix it with prepared spices before. This menu is good for those who are vegetarian. but unfortunately, rarely people sell this menu in restourant. burgers are food that usually sold at fast food restaurants. this food can be ordered quickly. This one food will make people's tongues Indonesia confused. because of the bread and the meat given the sauce feels strange. usually bread is served with something that tastes sweet while the meat is eaten with rice or processed rice. this taste will collide in the area therefore it will be very dizzy for indonesian people which still has local flavor. must be every day eat bread which must be combined with anything where it should be done by rice.

of course people know what is kebab. kebab sellers usually sell from evening to night in indonesia. this food is served in a lot of cities in the world. even so Indonesian tastes are somehow different from Turkish. for those who are familiar with burgers will easy to accept kebabs because both similarity. but if you are not ,it will be different results. because typical indonesian associate the taste of bread with sweet. while the kebabs themselves comes from meat and vegetables. maybe if there is some modification kebabs can be accepted widely to locals. because for Indonesian tongue eat bread with meat is an odd combination. usually they combined with chocolate or milk.

when we buy drinks, usually drinks served in bottle or glasse. but in Indonesia they sell it in little plastic bag with a straw in it. maybe will looks weird and bit disgusting for the first time. many merchant do this especially cold drinks that sold on the street. it seems you need time to adapt for this one. as long as the drinks are not hot drinks it might not be a problem, but if the drink is hot it can spilled on clothes. its not good idea.

Ketupat is food that always on the feast day

the food in Indonesia that always has synonymous with holidays is ketupat. Ketupat made from rice with unique packaged. usually before the celebration the family starts making ketupat. process for cooking ketupat somehow a little longer than cooking rice directly. so it's not suitable to be made every day. but ketupat can last up to several day. usually ketupat is served as a dish to welcome guests from far away and families who visit in that day. Ketupat is suitable to be served with soup or with peanut sauce. to serve it the ketupat is peeled and cut into small pieces. after the feast is over. rarely people cook ketupat. and no restaurant serving it. but sometimes there are also satay sellers who make it although it's rare case

Melinjo fruit can be a delicious snack. the fruit skin can be used as soup and fried foods. while melinjo seeds can be made into chips. Javanese people call it "emping". restaurants are always identified with cleanliness and courtesy. but what if you eat in restaurant by barehand without a spoon or any tool. when you visit a traditional restaurant In indonesia, especially padang restaurants, maybe you will do it. traditionally Middle Eastern food, India and southeast asia eat directly using barehand. eating enjoyment will feel better for them compared with spoon or fork. maybe it will make you who usually use a fork knife or chopstick to be clumsy to eat and enjoy Padang food. at least that experience must be felt once in a lifetime. don't worry eat using barehand is easier than a fork knife, the food will't going to jump like a frog. don't worry to you eat using your barehands at the padang restaurant because you eating politely at that place. You also do not need to memorize table manner about what foods should be eat first and last, because you can eat randomly. the order you made by yourself.

bread mealtime for indonesian doesn't mean "eating"

each nation has culture and habits differently. so it also goes to food. maybe for some people eat a piece bread for breakfast is enough but not for the indonesian. whatever lots of bread had be eaten. when indonesian asked "do you have to eat", then it will usually answered " not yet ". it sounds strange, right?. but when seen in terms of culture it can be explained . because of food the staple of indonesian is rice then when asked about eating. then what they think is eating rice. while bread is generally only seen as a snack. as long as the food is bread then he feels haven't tasted the main menu. so it will be happens if you have indonesian friend. although given a little rice, after he finished it then when asked if you have eaten he will answer already even though he is not full. but if given a lot of bread until full. when asked if you have eaten it will be answered not yet. so it's better to stay away from the word meal and replace it with the question is whether you are full.

drink flowers for beauty and confidence

Fermented foods are processed foods which is assisted by fungi or bacteria in their production. not everyone consumes fermented foods. but in Indonesia there is a well known food made from fermented soybeans and traditionally packed inside Banana leaves. they named it ,tempeh. Tempeh is rich in protein. a lot of Indonesian food menus made from tempeh. this food is people's food. tempeh is the source of protein for the population. so the price cheap. tempeh can be processed by frying, and soup. Many tempeh are sold in stalls in Indonesia. even soybean pulp in tofu is processed into tempeh, which the nutritional level is below ordinary tempeh. but it tastes more tender and the spices can absorbed better. Tempe cannot be stored for long time because every fermented food will experience decay. even so there are some people who making soup with old tempeh it doesn't taste well but somebody likes it.
